Looking Into Existing Logo's -
Personally I think logo's where the main focus is an image or an icon, sometimes presented with little text perhaps underneath are the most effective in not just the media industry, but in any. The image in a logo is most important, and also effective because it remains memorable, and is the reason people recognise brands, for instance, this logo in particular, because the imagery is simple yet memorable, and while it is presented with little text, we know who they are and what we can infer from them.

In my opinion, something all of these recognisable logo's have in common is how simple they all are - just a singular image, with only a small amount, if any, of text stating the rands name. The logo's that do include text, only include a small amount, therefore keeping it simple yet still remaining very memorable, and in this case, known all around the world. Each of these logo's are famous in their brand simply because they don't bombard you with information, etc. You simply see the image and know exactly who they are and what they are known for.
My First Initial Idea For My Logo -
Initially, my first idea was to create a circular logo with my name wrapped around an image, hopefully representing me in a professional manner. Going into creating my logo, I felt that I had a vision, I just had to go through several drafts to execute it. I wanted to create something simple yet effective, and while this is the first I have created, I do feel like something is definitely missing - as for something which would be representing me, it is somewhat vague. I will continue to work on some different ideas to try and elevate it higher to perhaps a more professional level.

Continuing on with my first logo draft, I liked the idea of including a camera lens at the centre of the logo as if to connotate the camera being at the heart of media and film. In saying this, I believe compared to my first idea, this logo looks slightly more professional as I think the previous logo looked somewhat empty, but I still don't think represents me as well as a logo should. I do think that something like this could look good on a business card, and would be suitable on a website, but I know I can make it look better. Furthermore, I will continue to develop the logo and make changes if needed.

Upon creating my first two drafts, I wanted to take a different approach, and while I know it is quite simplistic, I think it may be effective - this being because it isn't too over the top or cluttered, it is just straight to the point and would represent me in a positive manner. On the other hand, I think that while having a simple logo is a positive thing, I do also think it could be a negative thing as I don't think it says enough about me, again being too vague. As of now when working on drafts, I haven't included any colour, which at first I thought could be a good idea, yet I think after analysing each of them, the lack of colour makes them feel quite dull and lifeless. When creating my next logo and working on my improvements, I will include colour, and also go back to my original idea of surrounding an image with text.
Final Product and Evaluation
When creating this logo, I was able to keep my original idea of my name being wrapped around an image, and was also able to include some colour so it wasn't as dull - choosing yellow due to its connotations of happiness and calmness, which I think when presented on a website or business card would represent me in a professional manner. Following this, I am pleased with how the idea turned out, as I liked the idea of including an image of a film clapper board, since this in itself is memorable and has been for many years. I also think that the simple use of colour gives the overall image a nice feel, while representing me in a positive light, along with the use of text wrapped around the image. Overall I am glad with how this logo turned out as I believe it is simple yet effective and, with the image and text, would remain recognisable.
Feedback for my final logo
Receiving my feedback, I am glad people liked the simplicity of the logo since that was what I was going fort / aiming to create, since again I feel your logo should be straight to the point and the audience should be able to infer what industry you are in by just looking at it, and in this case, people did.
Upon asking the question 'Is there anything you would change or improve about the logo' all four respondents answered no, so I was thankful for my positive feedback and that they liked my logo design.
